Thyme: strength, energy, immunity

Much more than a seasoning, thyme is an herb with extraordinary properties known since ancient times.

Find out the wonderful benefits of the therapeutic-grade essential oil of thyme, the most potent and purest form and the best ways you can take advantage of it for your well-being.

Immaculate mummies, delicious spirits and brave warriors

The essential oil of thyme is used in Ayurvedic medicine in India and also in homeopathy.

It was an ingredient used to embalm in Egypt. The Greeks used it in their baths, as incense in their temples and to heal wounds and respiratory affections; the Romans flavored their alcoholic beverages with it.  During the Middle Ages, besides being used to treat asthma, it was believed to give courage, so ladies gave it to men before they went to battle.

There is chemistry

Today science is helping us understand the reason for such an ancestral preference for thyme. The main ingredients of the essential oil are called phenols and they are the most potent antiseptics, anti-infective and anti-bacterial in the plant kingdom.

The most abundant phenol in thyme is thymol which, in addition to its antibacterial and antifungal properties, has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, antiseptic, anti-plaque, anti-rheumatic and expectorant properties.

Due to its power: precaution

Thyme essential oil is recognized by the US FDA as safe for human consumption but although thymol is less caustic (irritant for the skin and mucous membranes) than other phenols, it is wise to be cautious.

Be sure to purchase only thyme essential oil that is pure, therapeutic grade. Do not use it in children under 6, pregnant women, people with high blood pressure and avoid using it for very long periods of time. If you are breastfeeding consult your doctor first, and avoid contact with eyes, inner ear and other sensitive areas.

When applied on the skin, you must always dilute it in a carrier oil in a proportion of 4 drops for each drop of thyme.

Used internally, thyme oil is very beneficial. Adults may ingest about 2 drops in a capsule or take a drop diluted in 2 teaspoons of honey or 8 ounces of any drink. In the case of children (over 6), whether for topical or internal use, it is preferable to use dilutions a little higher than those mentioned.

As for the aromatic use, you can use about 3 or 4 drops in a diffuser.

Essentially healthy with thyme

* Thyme is a tonic: it strengthens the body and stimulates your physical and mental energies. Tone your heart by massaging thyme on the chest and feet, and also spreading it aromatically.

* If you want to strengthen your nerves you can apply it on your hands and then inhale it or use a diffuser. You can also add about 2 drops to warm bath water, or use it in massages.

* It is recommended to use in massages to stimulate brain and intellectual performance.

* These massages are also indicated especially on the temples, nape, behind the ears (in addition to internal use) to fight brain aging.

* If you want to overcome fatigue, massages and aromatic use will help you.

* Thyme is a powerful antioxidant. Take advantage of it using this oil to give a pleasant flavor and aroma of herbs to your meals, or by ingesting it in an empty capsule. Use it aromatically as well or by massaging feet and other areas, applying a warm pad on the area.

* Fragile hair, oily, with dandruff or falling out? Dilute it in the aforementioned way, massage it onto the scalp before going to sleep and then wash in the morning with a mild shampoo.

* It has been used traditionally in aromatic and topical form to face problems in the respiratory system, from colds to pneumonia, including excessive mucus, bronchitis and asthma.

* Another traditional use is against parasites, both topically and ingested.

* Its ingredient thymol has excellent antibacterial and anti-fungal qualities, therefore thyme oil is very effective, both in topical and aromatic form.

* And finally: when you ingest therapeutic-grade essential oil of thyme, you provide a formidable impulse to power the natural defenses of your organism.

Momias impecables, deliciosos licores, valientes guerreros

Oral health: the reason more dentists are using Essential oils

Essential oils are becoming important resources for oral health because people who seek well-being are appealing to what it's natural and scientific studies are corroborating the benefits of oils as well as dentists who increasingly incorporate essential oils to support their patients.

Join us and discover the great importance of oral health for overall health, and how you can take advantage of pure essential oils to take good care of yourself.

Much more than just an attractive smile

Did you know that if your gums are not healthy you are at higher risk of heart disease? Medical science has demonstrated in recent years the relationship between a healthy oral cavity and better cardiovascular and general health, so more than ever we have to visit the dentist regularly and take care of our oral health.

Okay but I fear going to the dentist's!!

All dentists deal to some extent with their patients' fears that, in extreme cases, can reach phobias and move people away from treatment.

Essential oils can be a great help to avoid this, employed aromatically and also used topically.

A scientific study published in 2005 in the journal Physiology and Behavior found that inhaling the essential oils of lavender or orange reduced anxiety and improved patients' mood expecting dental treatment even more than another group of patients that was prepared with music.

Another research from 2010, reported in the same journal, concluded on the utility of aromatherapy, showing that the aroma of orange essential oil reduced anxiety in female patients waiting for dental treatment, leading to greater calm and a more positive mood.

This was reaffirmed by the 2013 study at Taipei Medical University that evidenced that patients waiting for outpatient surgery - exposed to the aroma of essential oil of bergamot - showed a significant reduction of anxiety.

Fighting oral pathogens

The beneficial natural properties of different essential oils are making them more and more useful in dental offices.

Several essential oils are safe for the mouth, without compromising the natural balance of a healthy oral bacterial flora and when there is proper knowledge of their properties and uses, they can be very useful. Of course, only essential oils that are safe may be used internally, that means pure certified therapeutic-grade essential oils.

Among researches documenting these properties there is one from 2014 where melaleuca oil, compared to the antifungal drug fluconazole, showed the same effectiveness on the first day and even kept it 7 days later, when the drug had already disappeared.

In another study from the same year, which analyzed the disinfection of dental prostheses to which the fungus Candida albicans had been inoculated, the superiority of melaleuca to fluconazole was also observed.

Plaque and gingivitis

The Canadian 6-month study of patients with gingivitis, published in 2004 by the American Dental Association found that supplementing brush and flossing with a mouthwash containing essential oils provided "an additional benefit, clinically important and significant in reducing plaque and gingivitis."

In 2015, a study with medical and dental students comparing the effect of cinnamon extract with a mouthwash with chlorhexidine, had practically similar results, and concluded that "cinnamon may become an effective agent due to its ability to reduce plaque level and gingivitis."

A breath of fresh breath

A study in the journal Brazilian Oral Research, which in 2008 analyzed factors that cause bad breath as well as its treatments, concluded that mouthwashes based on essential oils showed effectiveness, and attributed this to their natural antimicrobial properties.

"Do it yourself"

Visiting your dentist regularly, reducing processed sugars (such as sweetened soft drinks) and proper oral hygiene including dental floss are some of the recommendations to follow.

As for the essential oils we have a great variety to recommend, such as clove, melaleuca and the "Protective Blend" containing wild orange, cloves, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary.

And finally, a fabulous resource that promotes optimal oral health: fluoride-free toothpaste, based on the "Protective Blend" of Essential Oils of therapeutic grade, as well as wintergreen and myrrh.

This paste reduces plaque and whitens the teeth, without damaging the enamel. It also contains xylitol, cinnamon and peppermint which give it a unique and pleasant taste that leaves breath fresh.

The 7 Great Benefits of Oregano

Oregano essential oil is the most powerful and versatile. Originally from the Mediterranean, it has been used for centuries as an important tool in traditional medicine. Here we will detail its extraordinary properties and will tell you how to make the most of its benefits.

Learn about its powerful components

Science tells us that what makes oregano so special is its high content of phenols which is up to 80 percent. The essential oil has antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, antiviral, general antiseptic properties and in particular, for the respiratory system as well as acting as a stimulant for the immune system.

Take precautions and make the best of it

It is one of the most potent and caustic oils so it should be used with caution, making sure of course, to use only Oregano pure oil, Therapeutic Grade.

- Topical use:  it must always be diluted with a carrier oil, such as coconut. The recommended ratio for dilution is 3 drops of carrier oil per drop of oregano. In children or very sensitive people, dilute it even more.

- Aromatic use: it is ideal to use a diffuser, between 3 and 4 drops can be used. Adults and children can inhale it undiluted; pregnant women, preferably diluted.

- Internal use: Adults can ingest one or two drops in a vegetable capsule, preferably diluted with olive or coconut oil, or diluted in 4 ounces of liquid or a teaspoon of honey. Children may take it but it should be diluted even more, while children under 6 years should not ingest it.

In addition, you can use it in your kitchen, replacing very favorably - in flavor and nutrition - dry oregano (what's more, it helps in having a healthier digestion!).

Improve Your Health with Oregano Essential Oil

1) You can always have it at home as an emergency resource, emulating one of its most traditional uses for centuries. Used internally is a kind of natural antibiotic, and used topically it is excellent help for muscle pains, back joints, sciatica, carpal tunnel, bursitis, etc.

2) Boost your natural defenses. For this, it is excellent to use it in topical or aromatic form, and also ingesting a daily drop you will obtain a magnificent preventive protection.

3) It protects lungs and the respiratory system. Taken internally it is preventive and also of help when there is cough or any respiratory condition. It is useful to diffuse it into the air or inhale the steam produced by 4 drops of the oil in 1/2 cup of hot water. It also helps to apply it on the chest and back and then place a warm compress on the area.

4) It supports the fight against fungi, like the Candida. Considering the possible side effects of some antifungal medicines, the antifungal properties of oregano and its ability to strengthen our natural defenses are very good news, being useful both internally, as topically and aromatic.

5) When there are parasites. The internal use is excellent, ingesting from 2 to 4 drops, also topically, applied on the abdomen.

6) An effective bullet against muscular or joint pain, as we said in the first benefit of this list. You can find relief by applying it on the affected area and also on the abdomen and feet. As a resource for intense pain you can ingest a capsule with 3 drops of oregano and 3 of frankincense twice a day.

7) It prevents chronic inflammation. Perhaps you did not know, but now it is known that inflammation - a normal and necessary response of our body - can become generalized and chronic, thus predisposing us to heart, lung and bone diseases,  cancer and even anger and aggressive behavior.

The good news is that by turning to healthy habits and taking advantage of essential oils like incense (inhaled, ingested and topically) and oregano (topically), we can avoid these threats.
